Norma’s Coming

Best Western Premier Leyland Hotel - August 8th 2013

Today we sang for a fire engine!

We had a good turn-out considering it was a working day. Part of our warm-up was broadcast live on Preston FM.

This is how Lancashire Evening Post described the engine

The newest ‘Welcome to Leyland’ gateway feature was revealed to the public for the first time yesterday in a special ceremony outside the Best Western Leyland Hotel.

The 1938 TL Fire Engine, which was made by Leyland Motors and used during World War Two, has followed the Centurion Tank to become the next heritage vehicle to be used in the town’s ‘Made in Leyland’ series.

Flocks of people attended the official opening on Leyland Way yesterday to watch as the Mayor of South Ribble, Coun Dorothy Gardner, cut the ribbon and watched the curtain fall down to reveal the spectacular fire engine inside a specially-made glass case.

We started off the proceedings with half an hour of songs from our repertoire, before the official unveiling ceremony and speeches. We then entertained guests while they ate lunch. We got our own lunch after they had finished - and the food was wonderful.

It may look as though Emma was walking off in disgust but she was just getting into position before the singing began.

We don’t often get chance to see Emma as the Chorus sees her

Learn to Sing Day

Wellington Park Beer Festival

Wellington Park Hotel , Leyland - August 10 & 11

We have had a busy time this week. We ended the week by entertaining the crowds at the Wellington Park Beer Festival, We did two hours in the early afternoon of each day. We had a good turn-out on both days; unfortunately we outnumbered the crowds of early-afternoon drinkers on both occasions. We enjoyed it!
