Becoming a member is as simple as turning up regularly on Thursday nights at 7.45
for rehearsal. On the first night you arrive you will be given a brief, and very
informal, voice check. This is simply to see which of the four parts you will fit
into best. Give us your email address and we will provide you with a password to
give you access to a teach track, and sheet music, of a short a cappella piece. (If
you don’t have access to a computer or other device, we can make alternative arrangements.)
You can then learn this piece at home ready for your audition.
While you are learning the piece you will still be singing with the rest of the chorus during rehearsals. You will be given sheet music but some people learn mainly by listening to the singing of others in the same section, and from teach tracks. Everyone will very happily, support you and offer encouragement and advice.
When you feel that you are ready, and there really is no rush, our Musical Director will arrange to listen to you sing the piece, in private, with chorus members from the other three parts. On successful completion of this little voice test you will be invited to become a full member of the chorus. Unfortunately this also means that you become eligible to pay the nominal weekly subscriptions that go towards covering club costs.
Learning the skill and enjoyment of singing is within everyone’s grasp. Red Rose A Cappella has provided Learn To Sing Courses most years but you do not have to wait for a course. You can turn up on any Thursday and just start singing with the full support of everyone in the chorus and particularly those in your section.
We meet every Thursday at Bamber Bridge Methodist Church, Station Road, PR5 6 ED
