Five new members received BABS’ badges in January.
In January and February the Chorus was coached by Rob Barber and Theresa Wetherbee.
Preparations were made for singing Harmony, in 8 parts, at a joint show with the Rosettes, in June.
In March and April there was more Convention coaching with Neil Firth and Rob Barber. From this time onwards all practices have been videoed and uploaded to YouTube so that members can watch their own performance.
Convention was in Bournemouth. May 4th started early with a 7.15 practice at the hotel. The Chorus performed early in the day and came 20th with a total score of 1075. This was two places up from the previous year.

On June 29 we sang at Music for Heroes at the Opera House, Winter Gardens, Blackpool. Photos
July 6 was Leyland Live. The Chorus sang at Coppers Tea Rooms and was photographed for Monday’s Lancashire Evening Post. Photos
During the summer the practice venue was moved to Wellington Park because the school was out of action. It was negotiated that the venue should be free of charge and, in return, the Chorus would sing for two days at the Beer Festival there.
On August 8 we sang to a fire engine! Norma is a recently restored vintage fire engine who now resides at the Leyland Best Western Hotel. Today was her unveiling. Photos
On August 29 the Chorus were asked to practise walking and singing simultaneously. This proved to be a difficult task.
September 5 was the first of several appearances on Alison Butterworth’s Late Show on BBC Radio Lancashire.
The AGM took place in September. Steve Plummer was Barbershopper of the Year and the Bill Thomas Plate was awarded to David Reeves.

In October, Four To The Bar were placed 6th in the International Male Quartet section of the Annual Irish Convention of Barbershop Singers, in Waterford

Rob Barber came to coach the Chorus again in December and was presented with a pair of underpants with the Red Rose logo on the front.
There were several other singouts before the end of the year. One of these, at Wellington Park, was for Mike Ingham. Most of these are included on the 2013 Events pages. We were the ‘headline act’, in Preston Minster, at the launch of Preston Arts Festival.
