More History

This year was the Club’s 25th anniversary.  Early in the year a list was drawn up of people to invite to the Anniversary Show on October 9th. It included 101 past members.

On March 4th PBHS went to the Opera House at Blackpool to provide sound and lighting checks for the BABS Convention a few weeks later. While they were there Bernard fell into the orchestra pit. He did not suffer any serious injuries but had to receive treatment for the effects for several months.

Later in there was a coaching weekend at Garstang Golf Club. The Chorus came 8th at the Convention on May 1st.

A cheque, for £90, was received from Preston Arts Council for new bow ties.

There seem to have been a lot of sing-outs this year for weddings, anniversaries and the like. One such was for a Golden Wedding Anniversary where Northern Heritage (Quartet) sang to 140 guests on the platform of Haverthwaite railway station.

515 tickets were sold for the anniversary Laughter ‘n Song show.

Also in October, Northern Heritage came first in the Southport Music Festival.

In this scrapbook there are a lot of photos of members, at various social, and singing, events. Most of them are not named but would be known to those who were members of the Club at the time.

The big event was in October:

In November the Chorus came 5th in the Northern Prelims and Northern Heritage came 1st in the Seniors Quartet contest. They were still 1st after the Southern Prelims and were awarded Senior Champs Trophy.
